A mobile crane has crashed at a quarry in Lancashire leaving one man dead.

Fire, Ambulance, Police and a range of other Emergency crews were called to a quarry, near Ramsbottom, after a crane ran off the road, killing the operator.

Police said the vehicle is thought to have left the road before coming to a halt with the driver trapped and injured inside.

Although the driver, whose name has not been released, died at the scene, further investigations continue to determine the probable cause. Police and safety officials are determined to use the findings of this tragic accident to prevent other motorists from sharing the same fate.
